Please review the stocking in my profile below. I would like to add Cardinal or Neon Tetras to the 38 Gal. Should I? How many? Which is a better fit with my current stocking?

Thanks,

Meowey

i'm not positive, but i think the tetras like to have around 6 fish per school. if all of your tetras school together, you might be okay, but if they pretty much stick with their variety of tetra, then i suggest getting a few more of the black tetras (enough to make it a school of 5 or 6)
and a few more of the others as well (making them schools of 5 or 6)

if you're going to do that, then you should probably hold off on the neon or cardinal tetras.

however, if your tetras school together as it is, then you probably wouldnt need to add any more of those, and getting 6 neons would probably be just fine, i suggest neons instead of cardinals because i like them better :D , and i've heard that cardinals are "easily stressed out fish" and a little harder to keep.

Neons are definitely easier than cardinals. Cardinals prefer different water parameters to most (if not all) other tetras.

I have a lone rummy nose tetra that schools with my neons. I reckon he thinks he's one of those!!!

As per the profile below, I have filled out the Black Tetra school and added Red Minor Tetras. Thanks to all who responded.

How so? Thats an interesting statement, as most people consider the neon tetra to be harder to keep, and the cardinal to be more hardy. I (myself) find that cardinals are less prone to disease and are less skiddish. JMO.
