I have fur, white fur growing on my driftwood.. I havent done a W/C since thanksgiving, its a 28gallon with convicts and tigerbarbs in it.. PLanted..

That "fur" is more than likely Hair Algae... I've had it in the past and it's not dangerous...

Carry out your regular water changes, scrape the algae off of the wood, and it should be fine. ;)
 
How long has the wood been there? I've had white fungus on every piece of Mopani wood I've ever bought, though not on other kinds, and it would appear sometimes a couple/few weeks after I put the wood in the tank.... absolutely harmless to tank inhabitants and went away on its own (though sometimes slowly)

Another possibility is that food is collecting in crevices somewhere, causing tufts of fungus maybe?
