Hey, i wanted to know after you put the dechlor in your water for water changes, how long you should let it sit before adding it to the tank? how long do you guys usually wait?

You can put it in right away. When I did it that way, I would add the dechlor as the bucket started filling, gives the added mixture.

I wouldn't suggest waiting until the water was in then treating. Treating before it goes in is best.

water has chlorine or cloramines in it most likely. and that could possibly kill some, if not all of your benificial bacteria, even before you put the conditioner in.

at least thats what i've understood.

therefore, i think it would be best to put the dechlor in first, mix it up and THEN put it in the tank.

Dechlorinator is really pretty instantaneous( for our purposes anyhow), I would either add the Dechlorinatoe to the tank and then the water, or if you are using a bucket add to the bucket as was mentioned above, there is little risk of killing off your benificial bacteria instantly, but it is never a bad idea to be cautious. many people who use pythins have mentioned that they simply add it to the tank and then fill the tank.

yeah i was about to say
I use a python and usually dump the water right in without dechloring it beforehand.
Simply put, the risks of chlorine in the aquarium for a brief period of time until the dechlor kicks in does not outweigh the amount of effort it would take to manually add in water in a large tank.
