Ok, I'm going to take out the plexiglass and put glass in my DIY tank. (just bows and leaks to much)

The tanks 22" tall.

I was calling around trying to get a price on 1/2" thick.
I got a friend that has a peice i can use. but its 3/8"
(I can have it for trade for some work on his chevelle)

Can I use 3/8" for 22"tall????

yes you could, but you will need a very solid top braceing system.

likely a lip around the entire top and two or more cross braces.

Cool!
it is a Plywood tank.

I have two 6" braces across the top and a 1x2 trim around the whole tank. the tank is made out of 3/4" plywood and has a 3/4" face with 2" around for the glass to seal to.

thanks!

makes this deal pretty good!
(should had done this to start, was trying to save money!
i had 1/4" plexiglass in and it bowed so much i had to put braces on the face to try to stop the bow. but it just made leaks around the seals.)

hope this works!

i have a DIY 300gal tank.
7'L x 3'W x 2'T (22" tall)

thanks again!

yup, with a solid tank like that 3/8" should be fine.

if you want extra insurance, send the piece of glass out to get tempered. after getting tempered it should be able to go 26"-28" high without problems.

Thanks everyone!
went and got the peice of glass today.
**** its heavy. (compared to plexi :) )

not a bad deal for some work on my friends Chevelle

i think he said, he would charge $100 for that peice.
(to a normal person, Not sure if that ment i'm not normal, or thats what he normaly charges!!! :) )

84" x 22" @ 3/8" hows that compare to what everyone has paid?

anyway, I hope to get it in over the weekend.

thanks Again!
