Media in a AC500

Would a AC500 loaded with one sponge (rinsed in water from tank every 2 weeks), 1 inch of filter floss (tossed every 2 weeks), and bag of biomedia outperform ALL other power filters in terms
of mechanical and biological filtration ?

I have noticed the 1 inch of filter floss traps a lot of gunk that
the single sponge doesn't. The biomedia media also holds the
filter floss in place.

I basically use sponges all the time with floss once in a while for a couple days. I put in on the top as the last level. Not sure if this is the "best" but I have had good results.

What size aquarium is this filter for? The media you mentioned sounds good, but knowing what sized aquarium we are working with would help a lot. ;)
