I recently moved from Bmore to Cleveland, and brought my 40 gallon FOWLR with me. I had about 40 lbs of LR and 1 clown fish. (My othe fish were eaten by a very fast and sneaky Mantis Shrimp). So, while I was setting up my new 75 gallon tank I kept about 25 gallons of the old water with the LR and Clown in a big tupper ware can.
One day I get home from work and my kids dumped 2 entire large cannisters of fish flakes into the tank (can). It was in there for probably 8 or 9 hours. I freaked and dumped all of the water out and refilled it with tap water that I added salt to. However, I did not have a hydrometer. Also, the Clown died and now the tank is just sitting there with a dead clown 40 lbs of LR, and it is disgusting.

I finally got all the gear for my new tank, what can I do with this LR??

You don't want to know what I'm tempted to answer.

You have a dead fish and ripe live rock sitting in a tank?
Just sitting there- like for days??

I would probably try to clean out all the gunk and dead fish and dead matter from the live rock, put it in the main tank as base rock, and i guess seed it with rock that's full of life.

just my 2 cents. not sure on this
