Just how tough are danios?

Ok, I've lost one of my RCCs so I really need to push this brackish thing before I lose the other one. Here is my question: could my 6 zebra danios survive some salinity for awhile until I get the 29 gallon cycled? I will be seeding it with some gravel and decor from another tank. I keep flipping back and forth between trading them in for 3 balloon mollies or keeping them for my 29 gallon. What do you guys think?
 
While I think it would be better to find some other alternative, I would imagine if you brought up the salinity slowly the danios would make it short term OK. My observation is that danios are cast iron fish, and can survive almost anything. I have never tried them in true brackish water, and don't know what long term health effects it may have though so Take my thoughts very lightly and wait for someone with a little more experience in this vien.
