After having my SW FOWLR tank up since August, I've decided to tear it down and use it for something else instead, because I'm allergic to a type of SW algae and break out in hives whenever I reach in the tank, and it's too expensive to keep up anyway.

My problem is I can't decide what to use it for! The tank is a 29gal... should I go brackish or do a heavily planted community tank? The brackish would house my bumblebee catfish (now residing in a FW with cichlids) and some other critters that could stand up to him. The FW would house some schooling tetras like neons and rummynoses.

Any ideas? What would you do? :)

I vote for the brackish tank, I can't wait to set my 75G up for brackish. Should be the first part of Feb.

My personal opinion would be to set it up as brackish since you already have a bumblebee. You would have the fun of setting up a new tank as well as giving the bumblebee a custom home.

Thanks for the opinions! Pufferpunk provided some surprising info on bumblebee cats over in Brackish, so now it sounds like "Beezil" won't be moving to a brackish tank after all. I'm leaning more towards a planted community just for the challenge of live plants (which I've never done before), but I could still go either way.

nothing beats a beautifully scaped, heavily planted tank.
