View Full Version : I Got Worms...

I have noticed, on a piece of my live rock, 2 worms aprox. 2" - 3" long and slightly thicker than a piece of thread, and they are clear. They both remain hidden, in a single tiny hole most of the time, but sometimes they come out and kind of "fumble" around like they're looking for food. They never fully come out. They never bother my fish and they're not anywhere where they can reach my Hammer Coral or Mushroom. Anyone have any ideas what they are? Could they be harmful? I've searched online, but since I dont know what they are, I'm not having any luck finding info or a pic.

Are you sure they're individual worms, and not tentacles? Terebellid worms have long, skinny tentacles that they extend from their hidey hole onto the substrate. There's another kind of worm (will have to recheck the name) that extends a pair of tentacles into the water column.

I'm not sure they're 2 separate tentacles. Now that I look at them, they look like they're most likely from the same organism. Is this anything to worry about?

Nothing to worry about, just gentle scavengers. I actually bought some to replenish the tank after the peppermint shrimp ate all of them.
