Don't you need members before mods? I have a small crowd building at my forums, and only 2 other mods. Moderators are there when admins can't be, or when the site becomes so big that you need help to keep up with the crowd. (also with larger crowds comes more problems).

Also, you shouldn't advertise a mod position. Pick someone you know, someone who becomes a regular and someone you can trust... never a stranger. Granted, it is the Internet and you might not know the person you appoint as a moderator down the road... but you'll be much better off if you've seen the person around before making them a mod. Just my .02

I'm not allowed to be a moderator because I'm too young to be exposed to bad words, even if all I do is delete them.
Even though most of what you need moderators for is because english isn't your first language.

it appears that everyone and their mother is building a forum...
how many aquarium forums are there now? 50? 100?

More than that... most likely in the thousands.

Many have talked to me about how they would "revamp" my forums if “they were me”, and I just tell them this...

... My forums were created because I didn't have the time or desire to answer all the emails on fish related questions. And as all of you know who have websites with any decent amount of traffic, the questions come in like a hurricane comes onto shore.

I just couldn't handle it anymore, so now with my forums if someone has a question, at least others who come across the question has a chance to answer it. Nothing is better than having multiple answers and replies... as we know from AC and its large volume traffic. :cool:

So... I guess I would say in short, everyone who has a forum has one for different reasons I suppose. Mine isn't in competition like some larger forums, and I don’t care if its well known or not. ;)

Nope mine eather, I just doeing it for fun coase I like the Aqua hobby so much and to learn the English language...

It's also a project for school I'm doeing Communication and MulitMedia Design. The project has to do with building an Interactiev community...
