Hi. I just wanted some suggestion on lighting. I just have the light that came with my tank but it so un-natural. It's flourescent I think. Is there something I can do to make my tank look more like the tanks I see pictures of on here? Is it just a matter of changing the bulb or do I have to buy a whole new hood?

Also, I agree on the post about Whisper Filters. I am on my third one. They just stop working well after a a few months. (And I do clean them!)

Next time I will buy one of the filters that were suggested.

Thanks.

by unnatural do you mean the colors are funny looking?

If so, that can be solved by replacing the bulb you have with a "daylight" full spectrum bulb. 5,000-7,000k is a good color temperature to look for.

Look at the bulb you have while it is turned on. what color is it? if it's pinkish or purplish, it's probably a 50/50 bulb. If it's bluish white it might be a 10,000k or 15,00k bulb... if it's BLUE blue it's an actinic... if it's white it might just be a plain-o white bulb. be sure to get a full spectrum bulb for colors to look the most natural.
