I bought one to suppliment my emperor 280 in my 37 gallon tank. I just put it in.. does it accually work at all as a protein skimmer? also do i have to open up the air valve to get to to skim? It is very loud when i open the air valve.
Anyone here used the Skilter250 filter?

I hate to say this but I had one and hated it. It didnt skim worth a bit but was great for extra water circulation. WIth regards to noise you are right they do make a lot of noise. The valve (cap) doesnt need to be pulled off completely rather loosen it to get the right amount of skimming.

Hey Jeff just read the other post you had on here and if you are overstocked you might really want to consider something other than a skilter for your skimming. Just a thought good luck.
