Hey all, how R U?
I have my 55 gallon that houses a sting ray, 2 parrots and a few other little fishes...My problem is that I love the look of a well planted tank, silk fakes or real, but cannot do this in my 55 since the ray needs all the floor space he can get. Right now the tank is bare except for a pot on one end w/a couple plants hanging down above it from the top of the tank.
Anybody have any suggestions for anything else I can do w/the tank without using up a bunch of floor space?

Thx, Beth

How about a nice selection of floating plants? Water lettuce looks quite nice, or even some species of Indian fern can be floated.

A much, MUCH larger tank, for starters....:D

Rays, even the FW variety, need LOTS of floor space, either by way of a shallow, wide tank or by, well, a GREAT BIG tank. They get really large, like a foot across, if I remember right. (of course, some SW rays can be 6 or 7 feet, and that's not even talking about the big guys like mantas....) Rays will dig up plants, I think. Maybe if you were to do floating plants or plants that suction-cup to the sides of the tank it would do well...

I had a few of those "hanging garden" plants in my tank, and they looked awesome. You get them in the reptiles section of the pet store.

Ya, a bigger tank will be along, I know. He's just a baby now, so he'll be okay for a short time....I'm gonna check out some more drift wood & hangy plants. I'd love to have a big peice in the middle of the tank that only takes up bottom space on the ends that is would rest on....That won't be cheap! ;)
Just wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas!

Thx!!
