Feeding.

I feed my shrimp everyday mostly pieces of fish and shrimp plus flake food.. and I was wondering how long I should leave that stuff in there so I can prevent future algae growth. Should I leave it in there for a day or more then vacuum or what?

I drop pieces in v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y and as soon as somebody misses one they could easily have gotten that's it- mealtime over. If any is leftover that signifies that too much was put in to start with IMO.
I wouldn't leave any lying around. It's a bad habit and can only cause problems.

They get way more in captivity than they ever would in nature to begin with- it is normal for them to act starved and gobble their food. It does not really mean that they are starving, of course. It's just a feeding behavior that evolution developed for them to ensure that they "get it when it goes by" during the dry spells.
Don't let them fool you.
