Getting tired of aggressive cichlids...... breeding.... fighting...... etc. I've been keeping them for many years.
Currently in the 180 are a huge pair of Synspillum, 3 large Oscars, 3 smaller Jacks, 3 Nicaraguenses (1m, 2F), and a male Robertsoni. I'm thinking of getting rid of all of them (maybe keeping the Nics) and starting over.
One idea is to move the Uaru/Severum/Chocolate cichlids from the 120 to the 180 gallon tank. This will free up the 120. Can anyone recommend a nice fish combination for the 120 (24" x 24" x 48")? A thought is to have it as an Angel tank. I already have 4 small Angels along with Congo tetras in a 55 gallon. I considered Discus until I found out that they require several water changes a week.
The other option is to leave the Uaru/Severum/Chocolates in the 120 and start fresh with the 180.
I'm looking to have nice show tanks, and don't really want the hassle of breeding/fighting/etc. anymore. Definitely not interested in African cichlids, bred them for many years in the 80's.
By the way - How much should I ask for the pair of Synspillum? Two local people (Wash. DC area) have already showed interest in them. Am I crazy to let them go?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
