Wasn't sure where to post this so just going to drop it in General. Not even sure how many will benifit from this, but I can't get the only one with an over abundance of Lemna Minor. I got a couple Lemna Minor plants by accident (kinda) when I got some guppies quite a while back. As the description of Tropica says, it is pretty much a weed. With in no time my tank was covered. I was throwing a lot of it away until I figured out by accident that my Silver Dollars LOVE to eat this stuff. So instead of a weed, I now have a self replacing food source. I am guessing other larger herbavores would eat this also. Has anyone ever used this as food for any other fish?

Info on this weed

Anyway, just thought I would share and see any other opinions.

Had the same problem, used the same solution. Silver dollars and pacus love duckweed.

Tiger Barbs Black Ruby Barbs and Clown Barbs eat it even faster than it grows! I bet other barbs do too.

Don't goldfish eat Duckweed?

Duckweed is soaking up those extra nutrients. Even if you collect it in a net and trash it, it's working for you.

Oh, almost forgot. It's also good with some chopped cilantro and a light vinaigrette. Just kidding.

Wetman, never noticed my barbs eating it, they could have though. I also keep some of it in my fry tanks for the reason of soaking up nutrients. And yes, I have heard that gold fish will eat it too.

Harry, lol yummy, aquatic salad.
