ok, my female con is showing her tube!! Its way out!
so how much longer till i can expect eggs?
I turned the water temp. up to 82.
did a water change 20%

My female has the egg tube also. How does she react towards the male? Mine just chases him around.

Mine seems to like him i guess, they swim around together.
i can see them cleaning the inside of the pot.
that do this "Shake Thing" in side the pot. At first i thought they where laying eggs and he was futalizing them, But i can't see eggs.
How big are they? someone said like a grain of suger.

The eggs are a tiny bit bigger than a grain of sugar. They should also be a creamy colour.
It sounds like they've chosen a spot so when you do see the eggs they'll be on the sides and top inside of the pot.
The first time my convicts mated I saw the female lay and then the male fertilize the eggs. Very interesting.
cons breed like rabbits!
mine breed every 3-4 weeks in a community tank. I remove the clay pot with the eggs 24h after lying and put it in my nursey aquarium(10 gal).
I see the fries in 3-4 days!

A little off topic, maybe, but which is bigger. Male of female. I bought 2 convicts about 7 or 8 months ago and they were both about 1 inch. 1 is about 3" and the other about 2".

Mine are about the same size. both 2" total lenght.
In black convicts/striped convicts the female has a orange spot on her tummy.

Both look the same, no orange spots. I don't think they are both males. One is alot bigger.

well ether both are males or maybe the female isn't ready to lay.
I think the female only gets orange when ready to spawn.

EGGS!!!!
i can see about atleast 100!
I put 2 peices of 1.25" PVC pipe in the tank.
the female went into one and from that day on wouldn't let anyone around! today is the second day for the eggs (atleast sence i have seen them.)
I like watching the female turn away the other male.
and the other two cons.
I have moved the other two smaller con's to the 10gal that i had set up for the baby convicts.
SO. after about two to three week i can/should move them?
