now i have ich and planaria in my tank i know how to get rid of the ich now how do i get rid of the planaria... what is the safest way. keep in my my convicts are breeding
If you are referring to those thin white worms, they are a result of excess protein. Increase gravel siphoning and cut back on the protein rich feedings to once a week (eg mealworms, crickets, meat etc). The rest of the time stick to a staple such as Hikari. The problem should then disappear.
im currently feeding them shrimp... the ones we eat. best thing is to feed them prepared food now huh? and wait till them buggers are gone and then mix feed them. feed then about once a day also?
I have battled planaria several times in my tanks. I have found that I am now seeing less of them then before. I feed much less than before also. I have large/messy cichlids and used to feed them lots of flake food. I stopped this and only give them flake once a week. I still use a wide range of foods, but only feed once daily and feed much less. Check out my tank specs below for detailed feeding regimen. I also gravel vac and do 50% water changes weekly. I have noticed also that when I started feeding less, the fish started eating some of the planaria ( little snacks between meals can't hurt!)
