Hi all
Is it possible to cycle a tank for the first two- three weeks without a skimmer (my skimmer is not going to be ready in time).
Or should i just wait (i cant wait anymore :( ).

Cheers
Nick

Go ahead and start your cycle without the skimmer. I started my cycle July 9 of last year with 31 lbs of lr. On July 15 I added 30 lbs of base rock. On August 6 is when I added my skimmer.

You definetly do no need the skimmer for just the cycle. It may actually help to not have it as this will leave more dissolved organics in the water to help the nitrogen cycle along.

Once the cycle is complete you can begin stocking your tank as you want. I would start slowly though with a cleanup crew (snails, crabs, urchins, starfish) during this time research the corals you are interested in and plan where to place them some like high flow/high light while some like little to no flow/and near no light. Once you have a good plan of what you want in there you can begin adding at anytime after the cycle just make sure you are able to maintain the water chemistry.
