I'm planning on getting an approx. 30ish gallon tank and putting some africans in it. One species I'd like to get is a small group of Neolamprologus Brichardi. Any other cool ideas, or species that could co-exist with these fish?
I plan to have onyx sand substrate and some sort of hardness-increasing method, like a big bag of crushed coral in the filter, and adding baking soda to change water to minimize kh/ph fluctuations.
Anyway, this is a few months off, but any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

I think doing a species specific tank is a great idea. I have one in my 90 with mbuna/haps and it's doing fine. They are a neat fish and I really like the community way they raise their young. I got it cause the wife likes the tail but I wouldn't have picked it out if I had known it was a tang. It sure is a digger though.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking I might just make it a one-species tank with n.brichardi only. How many do you think I could put in, say, a 37 gallon? (30"x12"x22", this shape fits perfectly in the area I had in mind)
how many in a 29 gallon? those are the two sizes I am looking at getting...
Thanks for your help. Any other tankmate ideas?
