I had bought 3 scissortail rasboras for my tank then a few days later (I was watching the water closely all was right no ammonia, pH was correct, etc.....) I put in four neon tetras. watched the water properties very closely nothing happened no ammonia spikes or pH screw ups. (forgot to say temperature was correct) and then I noticed that 2 of the rasboras would stay in this one spot and not move! so I thought it was stress but one of the rasboras was being incredibally active and swimming with the tetras so I though maybe they are just frightend then one day I came back and the 2 were both dead? I checked the water right away and no ammonia everthing still correct! then I decided not to add any fish for a long time. but do I have to get more rasboras? (Scince they are schooling fish) or will the rasbora be ok?

Cheers,
BobDole

Depending on the size of the tank, yes, you should get more for the exact reason you stated. They are schooling fish. Schooling fish are usually stressed when kept alone or in small groups. I'd have no fewer than 5 if you have the room.

OH yah, after reading it again...it seems as though this was a new tank when you added them...and as phanmc suggests, you need to know your nitrite and nitrate measures as well as ammonia levels. Ammonia is only 1/3 of the cycling equation.

The Nitrate and Nitrite levels are 0.

Do you do a whole bunch of water changes? There should be some nitrate....
