Could anyone possible explain this odd behaviour? :bowing:
About two months ago I had purchased a baby albino rainbow shark and had him in my 20g. with a couple corys and swordtails. The shark chased them harmlessly and the corys didnt seem to mind as they chased him right back. My female swordtail just darted away from the lil' inch and a half shark's advances, but whenever the shark approached my male green sword, he would lurch over on his side and start quivering violently until the shark left him alone. I figured it was some type of defense to act injured or perhaps create some type of vibration that other fish dont like. In the meantime I have removed the rainbow shark to a larger tank, and the swordtail iseems much more at liberty. I have had him since about May of this year, and he used to be as lively as the cory cats. Then when i added the shark he stopped being social and stopped eating due to the stress-he got very skinny.
Now he is more lively, however, when my larger clown loach searches for food or plays near the top of the tank, my swordtail again goes into caniptions. Could this be that he is now permantly scarred due to my shark "tormenting" him for that month? The "bullying" didnt seem too be bad but I am sure to the sword it was traumatizing. He would not socialize or pick on the live plants for food. At least now he hangs out with his mate again and eats.
Anyway, it is weird to see him have these seizures, and I am sure that my tank has not been exposed to any poisoning as all my other fish are doing great.
I am at a loss when it comes to finding information about this. :thud:
