Guppy having a rough birth?

My female was excluding a bunch of whitish mass this morning which I believed to be placenta, but there have been no births yet. She has a whitish area near her belly and looks more squared out than my old female did. She was pregant for about three months and I was surprised she didnt ave babies as her gravid spot was deep and huge. Do you think she could be absorbing the babies? How long does it usually take for them to give birth once the process has started?
My old pair of guppies had fry like no tommorow, but I didnt have a breeder box back then. Now I do, an I am hoping there is nothing wrong with my lil lady!
edit- not to forget, her scales are all raised up along her belly/adomenal area, but no where else. Is this normal? It looks like the pictures I have seen of bloat or something.... I dont remember seeing that with my old female, but then again I dont know much.... :eek:

She's deffinately pregnant. I hope you didn't use a net or even your hands to move her into the breeder trap, being as gravid as she is you can actually harm the fish because of how sensitve the belly area is and could potentially also kill some of the fry inside of her just from the pressure of the net or your hand. Something doesn't look quite right about her though, like the misshapen spot behind her abdomen. Can you get a picture looking down on her?

poor thing didnt make it. I had dipped the in breeder around her gently, but the cause of death was some other problem. After she died I did a disection as i noticed that her belly was swollen- I slit it with an exacto and a mass of yellow hardened jelly like stuff came out, and I saw what may possibly be the malformed young inside. I think it must have been an infection. She looked ready to give birth for the last month. Poor little friend... :(

ditto to that. me and my dad used to breed guppies when i was younger, it was always so sad when one of your prize females died during pregnancy
