I did some DYI Co2 this morning. After about 10 min it started making bubbles. I saw in some post that surface aggitation can be a problem. I have a hang on back filter. I try to keep the tank full. Is it better to have the Co2 airstone away from the filter or does it matter? Any other tips now thats its up and going?

It'd be best to runt the tube from the DIY CO2 into the intake of the filter. This will chop up the CO2 bubbles which will aid in diffusion. When people refer to surface agitation, they are talking about surface movement from filters, airstones, or powerheads. This will cause you to lose CO2 more rapidly.

Pick up an extra filter sponge for your filter and cut it to fit across the out flow ramp on the filter. Then cut a slit in it and fit it over the lip. This will greatly reduce the surface agitation as the water returns into the tank.
Also, if you follow deocder's advice, putting the sponge where I suggested will further break up the CO2 bubbles and aid in saturation of the gas.

Thanks yall. I've been trying plants for about a year now and they just arent growing as well as i'd like. I have a 55 gal with 4 40watt shop tubes over it. I'm hoping maybe this Co2 will do the trick.
