I am so upset...my angel died. It started out hanging out up in the back corner of the tank with its mouth pointed up. Then I noticed it stopped eating. The rear fin looked nipped, I thought perhaps the little tetras were nipping it because it wasn't swimming. Then the fin began to disinigrate! I added salt like someone said and nothing. I had my water checked right away before all of these things and it was perfect. I did a 20% change anyways. Next thing you know, she has no strength and just begins free floating in the tank. ! I am so upset, this is the second angel to die on me...I just don't get it, all of my other fish I have had for a year and are thriving! Why can't I get angels to live in my tank! I have a beautiful tank and I check the water every couple of days, it is always crystal. I am depressed, I so wanted an angel. Okay I am done now, the rant is officially over...
Sorry about your angel fish, it really sucks when your fish is headed down that road and you feel like you're helpless to do anything about it.

I'm sorry for your loss.
What size tank was she in? What else is in there? do you have any water tests? what do they say?How often do you do water changes?
Maybe we can help you keep angels.

Okay, here goes....33 Gallon
6 lemon tetras
5 Pristella tetras
4 Emporer tetras
1 Albino Cory
I tested the water right away...
0 ammonia
0 Nitrite
5 ppm Nitrate
7.2 PH
unsure on hardness, but the LFS said my water was good, I brought him a sample too.
I change the water 25% once a week unless it looks like it needs more. I test once a week at least sometimes twice. When I change the water, I always treat it and I use a thermometer so it is 80 degrees the same as the tank temp.
I am wondering if one of my fish is a carrier for Neon Tetra disease. I know that it can infect all tetras as well as angelfish some can be carriers while others get the symptoms. She was losing colour before she died. I hope not, if that is the case then I will never be able to have an angel.

Hi,
I am really sorry to hear that :-(
Losing fish can be hard, I'm still a 'newbie' and i have lost three Danios (One got ate by my brothers catfish that i was looking after...And also 1 platy)
I am sure that even the best fish keepers lose fish sometime...
Sorry once again,
Dan
Could be fin rot? Did you get both angels from the same source at the same time? did they die in the same way?
