Hello people i am new here and need help identifying a disease that has affected all my fish.
I have 6 fish coldwater comets and shubunkins, all of which are covered in small white spots some even have small red spots . These have appeared on there bodys, fins and tails. They are rubbing and flicking around all over the place.
In the last 2 days i have treated them for velvet on the advice of a local shop, but i am not sure if it has helped.
They have not lost there appetites at all ,but they are hanging around near the surface of the tank.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I've never had to deal with a parasite breakout myself, so I only have what I've read to go on. My guess is that it is Ick (aka White Spot). The red spots may be where the parasites are dropping off as they enter the next stage of their progression. Since both Ick and Velvet are parasitic infections, the treatment for Velvet may also work for Ick, but I wouldn't count on it.

ick is seen as individual tiny white spots that look like the fish has had sugar dropped on it. velvet looks like the fish has been rolling in a yellow powder. if it is ick then the treatment will contain mallachite green. the uv lights on your tank must be switched off for the whole of the treatment.
adding aquarium salt will also help. add 1 level teaspoon per gallon . the first lot will give you a .1% dose. 12 hours later add another dose taking it up to 2%. this will help the fish.
if it is velvet you can get a remedy for that too. but if its green switch off the uv light too.
