I'm adding a second tank in my office, it's a 44 gallon tall Show Tank(30" tall x 30" wide x 12" deep). I'm thinking of having either a few large Angels or a pair of large discus. I can't decide on how to decorate the tank. I'm not planning on having live plants and want to keep the decor fairly simple and attractive. Being that the tank is quite tall, what ideas do you have?

Thanks in advance!!

What kind of office is it? You could theme the tank to suit your needs. A pediatrician may have a "nemo" or "spongebob" theme. A dentist could integrate tooth like stuff etc. I've seen some cool floating plastic plants with long hanging roots(to fill up the space). Personally, I prefer naturual looking settings as opposed to bright colored stuff.

This is my home office and I don't have visitors other than my children and wife. It is a very formally decorated office and I don't want anything to distract from the fish. My biggest question is what choices I may not have thought of to decorate the tank simply but beautifully, considering the type of fish I'm thinking of having.

IMO (I like the natural look) a driftwood laden tank with some natural (dark) gravel would be great for discus, they come from Brown water which contains very few plants. You could light it carefully so they can be seen but have a lot of shadows as well. you can either make it an actual brown water tank, or just have the general look without the stained water. If you change you mind on plants later you could add java fern or bolbitus to the upper areas of the driftwood and enhance the effect without creating a high maintenance plant tank. The same would work for angels, with a little variation.
