Hello all, I'm going to be moving into a new apt in about a month and I wondered if anyone had any tips on moving the tank and fish?

My tank is a 44 gallon planted tank. My plan so far was to get four 5 gallon buckets. Put the fish in one and the gravel and plants in another and the other 2 for just water from the tank. That way I'm keeping almost 50% of the water. It'll be the last thing I take down from the current apt and the first thing I set up at the new apt. One of the probelms I'm going to have is that it's going to be pretty cold out when I move (mid Nov in Michigan). Luckily, my new apt is only 1 mile away from my current one.

So once I get it setup in the new apt, I would dechlor some water and fill the tank back up and then add some stress coat.

Any other suggestions on top of this?

There is almost no bacteria in the water, so keeping old tank water probably wouldnt do any good. Since its only a mile away, the move shouldnt be too difficult. I think if your car is heated before you put the fish in, and the apartment is heated, the fish should be ok even though it is so cold outside.
