At the end of last week some of my mollies starting acting differently than usual, clustering in the back corner of the tank near the surface, and were generally less active than usual. 2-3 days ago I noticed some white specks on the mollies as well as on a couple of my tetras, on the fins of the mollies and on the tops of the heads of the tetras. I assumed that I was dealing with a case of Ick and decided to treat with salt and raised temp. The tank has been at 86 degrees for 2 days now, with no change in the appearance of the fish. If my fish have ick, when should i expect to see improvement? Or could there be something else wrong? If the salt/temp doesn't help, what other treatments can you suggest?

Thanks,
Casey

Usually within 4 days you'll see changes as the cysts drop off. Are you sure this is ick? Could it be velvet? Do you see clearly defined, sugar-crystal specks?

Do you know what introduced the parasite, or stressed the fish enough to develop full blown cases?
