Would you consider this tank over stocked?

15-Gallon Extra Tall, 13.5” Long X 13.5” Wide X 20” Tall.
Walmart Aqua-Tech 20-40 Filter.
Rena 200 air pump and air stone.
No real plants.

9 X Neon tetras
2 X Albino Cory (Corydoras aeneus)

The reason I ask is I would like to add 2-3 more corys to the mix but think I might be pushing the bio-load of the tank. This tank has been running with the current fish and bio-load for the past month with no ill effects.

Your tank is pretty well stocked right now, a bit overstocked, but it should be OK. I would not reccomend anymore fish, you have probably hit the max bioload, and also there just isnt as much space. Since fish swim left and right, not up and down, you can not stock as much fish in a tall tank per gallon. For example, a 20 long and 29 gallon tank have the same footprint, but they can still hold about the same amount of fish.

ditto and further on the space, you have very little floor for the cories to scavenge and they'll be in eachother's way all the time competing for food. Kyle

Before this post I thought the neons and corys were good stocking choices for this tank because of there small size. I wanted to go with panda corys initially cause there even smaller then the albino/bronze but could find none. I know the corys should be in a group of a least 5-6 but at this point I don’t think I can add to my school as I intended. I do have other tank options for these fish so maybe I should move them on out and rethink the 15.

How would you stock a 15 gallon extra tall tank?

Ph: 7.5
Kh/Gh: I don’t have a clue but maybe it’s time to get a test kit.
Nitrate: 5-10ppm
Fine gravel and no real plants.

Thanks for any and all ideas.
Plan.
