95% sure im gonna set up a 30 gallon Lake Malawi cichlid tank. Ive done alot of research on setting up rock structures so the fish can have their own territories. does anyone know a good site where i can price/compare rocks that i can use to build these structures. thanks in advance

what kind of rock are you looking for? The rocks I've picked up were smooth ground pieces of granite from rivers and streams around my home. Then they were soaked, scrubbed and boiled. Perhaps look around in some of the more natural areas (don't know where you are) and find some cool rocks. But avoid rocks that are on or near roads or in more civilized areas, they're more likely to have nasty chems on them.

i was looking around online and various forums and i fell in love with this texas holey rock i believe it is lime stone and also looking at lace rock. but i like the white holey limestone. gotta get the tank first lol. have one 20g fw community tank and got hooked, now i want a cichlid tank!!!

A 30 gallon tank will be too small for almost all species of Malawi cichlids. You can probably get away with a small colony (4-6 fish) of a very mild species, like yellow labs, but that's about it. The kind of rock is much less important in this situation than the species of fish. Pick the wrong the species for a tank that small and you'll have dead fish...

Good luck,
Jim
