I just found out that my nimbochromis polystigma will be compatible with my mbuna set up plan. Beings that he'll get to 9+in, I thought he'd get too aggressive for my mbunas. I found out today, through another site,( no disrespection), that people have them in their mbuna tanks and say they get along pretty well. This is what I'm planning on for the tank:
6 yellow labs
4 Red zebras
4 melanochromis Johanniis
1 nimbochromis polstigma
1 common pleco
Btw, it's a 110 gal tank. I don't have all the rock yet, but I plan on doing it little by little , as I put the different species in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that be ok, considering I'd have to rearrange the tank with every installation of new fish, due to the territories?
Right now I have a few rocks, some terra cotta pots, fake plants, and two amazon swords. For filtration, I have an emporer 400, an ugf with only one penguin 1140, and a sea clone 100 protien skimmer. I know there are mixed feelings on the skimmer, but it came with the (used) aquarium that I bought, so I figured what the hay, why not use it.
Should I get another emperor 400 and do away with the ugf, and skimmer or should that be enough?
I'll try to get pictures here soon, I just want to get it semi-situated first, not to mention, I'm very ignorant when it comes to computers. Landscapers do use them much, lol.
Also, I heard that there are some black mbunas. Are they popular? Should I be able to get them at a decent lfs? If I order juveniles, can I get what I want ie: 1m 3-4fs. Or do I have to wait to find out once they mature?
You guys don't know how much you have helped me through my first knowledgible tank setup, ie. cycling, water perimeters, etc.. Thanks to all that have 'been there for me', with your help. Further thanks for future help.
Very much appreciated.
