Greetings all,

I have a 20L on my desk at the office, it has through a fishless cycle and I've added 6 mickey mouse platys and 2 green emerald cories. At the moment the filter system is an UGF power py a 60 gallon 2 port air pump and a HOB power filter rated for a 40 gallon.

I'd like to add 3 black skirt tetras and a powder blue dwarf gourami, do you think that would be too much for this tank to handle? Or put me at my limit?

Thanks for the info.

bio-load you'd probably be pushing it by most people's standards but I think you'd be ok. I would however, be a little leary about the 3 blackskirts with the gourami. I have never kept blackskirts but they are known for being bullies, especially with just 3 fish and no other aggressive fish to "keep them in check". Since the gourami has long feelers and sort of flowing fins, they're liable to pick on him. How's your male/female ratio on the platy's? you need more females than males, especially in a 20 long. How do you have the tank set up? planted? caves? this will make a big difference on tankmates. Kyle

Out of the 6 platys 4 are female 2 are male, the tank is heavily planted (plastic) with two cave like decorations. I've kept Black skirts in almost every aquarium I've owned. The only ones I know to be actively aggressive are the long fin fancy black skirts. They constantly pick at the each other and the smaller normal black skirts.
