I don't know if i'm caring for my goldfish right, so here's a bit of info about how i care for them. Please tell me what i am doing wrong and how i can get it right. Thanks.

Housing: I have a 7 gallon tank with one common goldfish and one comet goldfish. I have lighting and an air pump, but i don't have a filter. Everything in my tank is safe for the fish. I will be getting a bigger tank when they grow out of this one, or maybe i will put them in a small (inside) pond. Too many hazards outside.

Feeding: Because i don't have a filter, i only feed my fish a pinch of flake food every cuople of days. They eat all of it and then they search the gravel for more.

Partial waterchange: I do a partial water change of 40% everyweek. I use tap water with de-chloranter in so it is safe. I also scrape the tank sides with alge scrapers and check that the plants, light and air pump are fine. I use a siphon to siphone the water out.

Health: My fish are doing fine, but if they were to ever fall sick, i would put them in a quratine tank(it's not really a tank, it's more of a bowl.) I check for signs of illness everday anyway, so i know that they would be sick. Sometimes my fish have days when they are lazy with clamped, droopy fins. Is this something to be worried about?

Please help!

I would suggest feeding them everyday, and doing water changes 2-3 times a week. Fish can go a while without food, but only if they have been fed good before that. I would think that feeding them every other day should be the minium. When you do water changes, do you clean the gravel also, to get the debirs out of there. Also, a filter for a tank that small can be a cheap as 12 dollars, so I would suggest you invest in that. They are going to need a 55 gallon tank or so when they get fully grown.

Thanks for the advice. It's a releif that i'm not doing much wrong. I do clean the gravel too. I don't think i can get a 55gallon tank for them, but do you have any ideas on an inside pond?

so do you have a 5 gallon, a 7 gallon or a lot of fish in jugs aroung your house.?

You need to give up on goldfish and get something that will fit your tanks.

what size pond do you plan on having if you cant get a 55 gallon?

I don't really have a lot of goldfish in jugs around my house, neither do i have a 5 gall tank. Honestly, thruthfuly, i DO have a 7 gall. Don't ask me why but i wanted to see what your reaction was when i told you about the goldfish jugs, and as for the 5 gall, i got the calculations wrong(i'm not very good at maths.) Now, are you going to give me some useful tips or not? Because if your'e not, then you can go away.

I'm not.
Why should I waste my time helping you after you just jerked us around?
