about how many mbuna could i put in a 90 gallon without overstocking it? just an estimate here, assuming average filtration, amount of rockwork, and aggression of fish.
It all depends on the species of mbuna
some are extremely aggressive where others like 'yellow labs' are more docile
try this site: http://www.malawimayhem.com
it specializes in malawi cichlids and you will find more information there
just average aggression, mostly labidochromis and pseudotropheus, maybe a couple alonacara if i think the tank is big enough with enough hiding spots for them to handle the labs and pseudos. probably a school of danios as target fish. do you think i could fit 12 cichlids and ~10 zebra danios?
12 cichlids should be fine.
i have 10 in my 35 gallon (granted i am moving them within a few months to a 90 gallon) and 8 in my 32 gallon (which are being moved as well)
i dont know about the danios though... you dont really need target fish. the fast swimming danios will probebly annoy the alunocara
i would say no to the danios and you could do a trio or quad of peacocks... and i think up to 15 fish would be okay. anything over that (and larger in size) and you would want some extra filtration and good rockwork
