Paludarium question, aka NEWTAGE

Do any of you have paludaria? My homegirl has a 75g that she wants to set up with a salamander/newt plus some kind of shrimp or crab.

I have heard that fiddler crabs will try to get their pinch on the newts, but is there a sort of crab that is more peaceful? Or a kind of shrimp that the newts wouldn't eat?

What kind of newt? The red bellies likely won't get big enough to take an adult ghost or amano shrimp. I wouldn't mix them with crabs--most of the crabs that are available are brackish, so won't mix with the newts, and crabs will certainly outcompete the newts for food--newts tend to be slow feeders, and can't compete well with most fish/critters. I kept a pair with some snails, and had to target feed the newts.
