I was at a nice fish store yesterday, and they had some jumbo snails. I thought they were awesome and would compliment my community tank nicely. So, I put this over 3" diameter beast in my tank last night. This morning I awoke to find him happily chewing on my spade plant. He reduced a nice looking 5" plant to nearly nothing overnight.

Now, I really would like some more live foliage, but am I doomed to have it eaten faster than I can plant another? Are there any varieties that are snail resistant so to speak?

None of my smaller snails eat my plants...including Apple, Malaysian Trumpet, Mystery and ramshorn snails. Recently I got an unidentified snail, a bigger one like yours, his shell covered in long filamentous algae...but thank jebbus he hasent eaten my plants yet!!

Yea that guy is gonna chow down most any plant you put in there.
