I have a 29 gallon tank that is mostly mollies and guppies. Now, I know that the mollies love brackish water and I also know that the guppies can handle the brackish also. My question is, can a nubian swordtail handle the brackish water? I got one(my mother bought it for me when I wasn't with her) and it was fine when I put it in the tank, but since then,(after giving birth) she's looking harsh. She has little marks on her body and her fins are clamped. I was just wondering if it may be the salty content of the water or if my mother gave me a diseased fish!!!
One more question, when fish rub on things I know it could be a disease, but on the other hand, could they just like to do it? The only thing that they rub on is the submursival heater and other smooth things in the tank. Hope someone can make sense of my ramblings :) Any help would be appreciated, thanks

What kind of marks? Did you acclimate the fish to your tank? How long has she been in there? Many livebearers are tolerant of salt, but they do not need salt. If your water is hard, they will be just as happy, and no concerns about other fish being sensitive to salt. What's your specific gravity?
