These forums specialize in fish that eat other fish.

For Discus fish.. SimplyDiscus.com

But -- try not to mention "planted Discus tank" !
Many there don't believe in such a thing, kinda like, "the world is flat" when it comes to that subject..... LOL

There's also http://simplycichlids.com for cichlids and http://simplyangels.com for angelfish.

Another discus forum is http://discusasahobby.com (DAAH)

They've really calmed down on that part, and plenty of them have planted discus tanks...some are absolutely gorgeous. Nobody hounds me about having a planted tank with discus ;).

The disease section and the newbie section are really the only two where they are very serious about BB tanks... and a moderator made a very good reason for not advocating planted tanks in the newbie section..... she has to tell people how to treat their fish, and plants can make it difficult ;).

Doesnt everyone have a forum anymore? I quit counting when there were well over three thousand fish forums...and that was in 1998.

It depends what you want...lots of members...lots of interaction...top quality info...or direct no nonesense responce...every forum fills a need even if to satisfy ones own ego saying I own this....

just seek what works for you.

FishGeeks (http://www.fishgeeks.com) is my home base. With over 13,000 members, it's usually pretty busy. FishGeeks is where the gatherings every 3 months originated from.

Aquatic Hobbyist (http://aquatic-hobbyist.com/phpBB2/index.php) is only a year old but a very cozy fishie forum with great and knowledgable folks!

plantgeeks (http://www.plantgeek.net) is where I go for all my plant questions. You can also get some beautiful plants for cheap there from other members.

I admit I am a forums junkie! I enjoy it here also very much. I frequent a few more, but these 3 including AC and some already mentioned are my favorites! :)

Having thousands of forums to choose from isn't really a bad thing. I set my "small nook" up so that I wouldn't get the 50+ emails each day with fish keepers who needed to ask questions. Now it is more like 20 emails, which one person can handle... or at least more so than if it were 50 or more!

So, many people have many different reasons for setting up forums. To be honest, I do not like large forums. This place is about as large as I could handle, and I love it here... but if I were to come to a large forum as a newbie - I'd leave. Does that make sense?
