How many neon tetras should go in one 10 gallon tank? It will be only neons, nothing else. Thanks!

If you've got a decent filter, you could probably house 8 neons safely (they get ~1.25 - 1.5" long when they're full grown) in a 10g as long as you're diligent about water changes - neons are very sensitive to a decline in water quality.

It really depends on whether your tank is a 10 gallon tall or 10 gallon long, but I think either way you could do a school of about 10 adult neon tetras in a ten gallon tank (give or take a couple depending on their current size).

Id recommend getting 5 neons or cardinals
3 black phantoms 4 of the small clear and orange
tetra i forgot name neo glow or something ...
do water canges regularllly and you could work

Luna are you planning to do a fishless cycle? I'd highly recommend it (well I always do, but even more so in your case lol). Neons are rather delicate fish and don't normally do well through a cycle, you'll almost definitely lose some of them in the process and will have to do daily water changes to keep things in check. A fishless cycle will be much less work and worry for you.

I had a moderately planted 10 gallon tank with 12 glowlight tetras. I did 50% weekly water changes and they did fine in there. Still have that tank, but have lost several of my tetras and I'm now down to 7 (moved and lost some during that ordeal).

I'd do a fishless cycle, then start out with 8 neons. Let them grow for a few months and do your weekly water changes. If you kind of keep track of your nitrAte levels before water changes (not every single time, but every other time or so at least), you can use that info decide if you can add a couple more safely if you'd like more later. Also, if you add live plants to the tank, you can usually squeeze in a few more tetras without any problems.

tetra you can get in
there, a hardy fish
once they get a shoal
or group together.. ;)
