I am sorry to report that I may not be able to post anymore over the next few months.
I really am not able to, and won't go into details and reasons and all that, but thanks to everyone for being awesome with advice and everything
<sigh> see ya all around...
[edit] that sounds really mysterious doesn't it.... Suffice it to say there's a disagreement between me and my parents. I didn't have to flee the country or anything, don't worry.

Bwaa HA HA HA HA, someone got grounded!
oh man, that sucks, i totally feel it.
theres no point in even arguing with your parents until your at least 18, but im sure you already know this, and my taunting cant help.
contrary to popular belief, and common sense, sleep is very productive (esp when your grounded); it helps to pass the time
sorry man, that really sucks
take it easy, and thanks for all the advice youve given me

See what happens when children look at porn? It always catches up with you... ;)
ONLY KIDDING. Nobody here at AC would do something like that, would they? :D

Chico... stay strong buddy!! Grounding sucks, but parents do it for good reason (or so they say  )

So, is that what happened you got grounded. If your parents took away your internet you can't see your posts. Not even mine. I know when I grounded my kids, I felt it was more my punishment than theirs. They were always there. No down time for me at all. Maybe your parents will get sick of you hanging out all the time and suspend your punishment. That does mean you can't whine about being grounded all the time. Do your punishment and they will relent, I promise.

I don't remember ever being grounded. I'm sure it happened, but I can't remember it. I do, however, clearly remember getting the belt more than once. Very effective.

I was grounded quite often!! I also got the belt once and will never forget it... my cousin, she was in high school, used to walk with me and drop me at grammar school every morning. I was in first grade or so. I heard her say F You to one of her friends. That night I said it to my dad, while he and my uncle were watching the hockey game (bruins vs blackhawks, my uncle was wearing a b's jersey - how's that for memory!!) and my dad put me over his knee, pulled down my pants (only, not underwear) and gave me the belt. It was horrible. The worst pain ever. Nothing ever warranted the belt again -- either that or my mother gave him serious #!$!!@ for doing it (I remember her yelling at him later on).
I've gotten the wooden spoon across the fanny many times, as well as soap or black pepper on the tongue... it's amazing thinking back and remember thinking "i'd never do that to my kids"... my son who's only 2 has already had his mouth "salted" three times!!! (thinks soap is a joke, and black pepper must coat every meal he eats, so that's no punishment).

What a bummer, Chico!! :thud:
Well, as they say-grit your teeth & take your medicine...
Hope to see you back here soon. We'll miss ya while you're gone.
'Sides, you'll have a really great nano to show us when you come back!!

My family wasn't the "grounding" type either - nobody was home long enough to enforce it. However, I can remember certain things being taken away from me, as a punishment. Then again, this form of punishment would probably be much more effective in today’s world, what with kids having all their gadgets to occupy time. ;)

Get back ASAP. We need you over in the salty forums.
I only got proveleges revoked a few times. My parents never knew about the really big stuff until after I left home, but I got nailed for consistent smaller infractions on occasion.
Some day, you'll be free of this kind of control. Then you'll get married.

ohh boy, this is funny. I esp like the part about how all you parents say "just take your medicine" and "its for a good reason"
gounding is stupid. You want to punish your kid, you get a 2x4
on a lighter side, groundings allways make for good stories. Last time i got grounded it was because i threw a water ballon at a passing car and the guy got out and chased me. I still dont know how he got a hold of my parents...
edit note*
ive removed the article that i posted here about child disipline, some people might not have appreciated the jokes and satire in that one

Hmm... These days, if someone sees you lightly smack your kid in a parking lot or someplace, there is a good chance you'll be called down by social services - so that might not work well.
... I think if you want to discipline a child, you should think like a child. They are oh so good at the mind games, but if you can keep up with them before they do something, you're a good parent IMO. ;)

I think my parents were really lucky. Out of four kids all were angels (including myself).... We never got into trouble, didn't argue too much, very involved in good activitises, not to mention we're all smart :). I guess thats why there were never any rules in the house.
But, they said if i got a tattoo i'd have to find a new place to live.

Me as well. My dad had a close call when he was younger, so as long as i live under their roof i'm not getting one. Fair enough.

My dad tells the story that when he was 16 he bought a motorcycle and kept it hidden in the barn. When my Grampa found it, my dad had to sell it.
My dad finally got his motorcycle when he was in his late 40s. He bought 1 for my mom too. They drove down to Mexico on their bikes for their 'vacation' that summer.

Yep. That's sure familiar... "as long as you're living under my roof...". So guess what I bought after I left home? 'course I couldn't afford a car at the time...and.... I had a close call, but you know, that does not always make you any wiser. When you're younger, you are invincible...or at least you think you are ;)
