Were they faking it?

I really have to wonder... I added Clown Loaches to my tank. Within two days, I started seeing behavior that suggested an outbreak of ick.

In preparation for treatment, I started raising the temp in my tank last night. When I went to bed, it was up from 78.4* to 83.3*. This morning, everybody has better color, and is more active. BUT, not a one of them is showing any of the behavior that made me suspect ick.

So, were they faking it, knowing that I would raise the temp - which is all they wanted? Or did I read so much info about CL's and Ick that I saw something that wasn't really there? (More than likely the latter, if fish are smart enough to use psychology to control us, we may all be in trouble LOL) ;-)

Either way, I think I'll let it fall to about 82*F and keep an eye on everybody. The tank has always been 78-79 degrees, but my fish seem to like to be over 80*. So that is what they will get. Whatever keeps them happy!

I've never had or researched clown loaches but just from watching them in the stores, these fish do some wierd things. I can't count how many times I've seen a "dead" clown loach get up and swim away. KYle

...Possibly the cysts, which are attached to the fish, burst thereby multiplying. They then become free swimming looking to attach themselves to the fish again. Thus starting the cycle of their mutiplication again. Just be careful and keep watch for an outbreak again soon ,a little larger then the initial outbreak.Good luck here's hoping for the best.

clown loaches do like to "play dead", laying on their side on the bottom and stuff like that. that is normal for them. don't know about other behaviors though.
