Sand sifting star

Recently I have added to my tank a sand-sifting star. I've heard mixed feelings on this creature in tanks. Some people say that its good because it cleans out the sandbed... but some say it totally destroys a live sandbed.
I don't have livesand in my tank... just the regular silica sand. Is this star okay for my tank or was this a mistake to purchase?

to late now wouldn't you say. just go with it, half of the hobby in my opinion is experimentation. see what it does in your tank.
 
I agree with the experimintation part. I get alot of different opinions from everyone, it seems some things work for some people and not for others.

If the star is not good for live sand beds, then you don't have to worry.
