I have just set up a 37 gallon tank which will be ready in about 4-5 days. I also, a week before I set up the 37g set up a 10 gallon containment tank to house new arrivals before putting them into the show tank. They had Porcupine Fish Diodon holacanthus that grow up to 7-12" @ my lfs for sale so I picked one up till the 37g is ready, and he is in the 10g containment tank.

The water level drops quickly considering the small nature of the tank, therefore my question is, should I just add freshwater to level it out, or do I need to put salt mix in the water I add to keep the salinity in balance, it currently rates at 1.020. thanks.

You should replace evaporated water with freshwater since the freshwater evaporates but the salt does not. Adding freshwater will maintain your salinity level. If it is at 1.020 then I'm thinking you may need to add a little salt to maintain this level. Maybe it was slightly low to start with.

Most LFS keep their SG pretty low for parasite control. If you raise it do it very slowly- like 0.002 per day. They can handle drops in SG much more easily than increases.
