So I thought that I had the hair algae under control, apparently not, it seems to be growing faster than ever. Here're me specs:

33g with 4 3ft. T8's under a polished aluminum reflector.
CO2 ca. mid-day (for the tank, lights on about 8:30am, off about 8pm) is 24ppm.

NO3 5-10ppm (I add about 5mL KNO3 solution every other day to bring NO3 from 5ppm to 10ppm)

PO4 was about 2.5, so I changed 50% and cut back on dosing (I was probably adding about 10 drops along with the NO3, I've cut back to about 5)

5mL trace element mix (1tbsp. in 125mL tap water) dosed on days when no NO3/PO4 is dosed.

Most plants are growing well, although one bottom corner does seem to be having a problem. The Egeria densa seems to decay at the base, the java fern on driftwood in that corner is decomposing as well. With the exception of that 5"x5"x5" section, everything else is thriving, perling all day. Could the decay be a circulation issue?

I pull out as much hair algae (fine green hairs) as I can by twirling it around a filter tube brush. It seems to grow preferentially on the Riccia and java moss. I think that that pretty much sums it all up.

The decay could be poor circulation or light.
Try pushing the P=1.5 and the N=15 - 20.
Are you dosing Plantex?

No, I got the trace mix from a local hydroponics shop, unfortunately at the time I didn't ask for a name brand or element analysis.

It is a little shaded by some riccia on the surface, but I wouldn't have thought that sufficient to affect the java fern as well.

I finally got rid of mine, mostly because of the 5 day blackout and the sae's/flagfish in addition to a lot of manual removal of the crap.

If it was my tank I would adjust dosing as described above.
You're right about the Java. Circulation could be an issue.
