ok...i've been running my tank without any testing so i don't know my levels.

I have a few plants:

Limnophila sessiliflora (lots of little leaves, fern like)
Hygrophila polysperma
Ludwigia repens "rubin" (red underneith)

now my limnophilia and my hygrophila haven't been lookin that great. either brown leaves or having wilting leaves.

they're planted with a flourish tab at the roots and i have "plant gro" that i've dosed once a week.

without giving you parameters of my tank...is this signs of too little or too much fertilizer? lighting is about 44w in a 33gal tank. i know...not too much =T

I'm pretty new to plants, but the thing that sticks out to me is the lighting - I don't think 1.1WPG is enough to grow the Hygro or Ludwigia.
I think it's important to test your water, especially when you're fertilizing, so you know what's going on in your tank, but it's likely a moot point, since the brown/wilting leaves are probably a reaction to a lack of adequate light.

thanks for the reply. the thing is, my plants are really thriving. it's just a few leaves on each are brownish. did i over fertilize once and burn the leaves or something?

i've been clipping and replanting and they've all taken so i know things aren't too bad.

I found that limnophilia (ambulia) likes CO2 and when the CO2 is low or off, it breaks free from the gravel and floats.

If only lower leaves are breaking off, then it is low light. Lighting is not sufficient to keep lower leaves healthy.
