Fragile stem plants pointing to problems?

I've noticed that my Cabomba plants are very fragile. The leaves will seperate from the stems easily and the stems will break too. I know that plants are an excellent indicator of water and overall tank quality, so does this point to any deficiencies or problems?

i have read somewhere that if the fine leaves on stem plants tend to break off easily, it means they are not perfectly healthy... don't remember what the deficiency was though.
