Hi
Thankyou all for everything you've helped me with, ( I'm now poor and my house looks like an under sea world, But the fish are happy!!!!)

I want to know what feeder fish are best for my cichlids? Can I breed my own? and will this reduce the risk of infecting my 5 tanks?

Can I just make aware that a uk gallon is apparently bigger than a us gallon, so I've just given size:

2 x 3' tanks with fancy goldfish
1 x 3' tank with pair of JD's
1 x 6' tank with 2 x 5" albino oscars
4 x 3" convicts
2 x 3" acaras
1 x 6" pleccy
1 x 4' tank with 6 x 3" assorted angels
5 x 2" silver dollars

Use crickets instead....they're much more nutritious and safer to use than feeder fish.

I'd reccomend breeding guppies, but I would also not reccomend feeders as a primary diet. I use Hikari Cichlid pellets as a staple, and feed about a million different treats and supplementals. the above mentioned crickets are good, snails, earthworms, bloodworms, brine shrimp, ghost shrimp etc. I definately would not raise a predatory fish without some live foods to hunt, but at the same time I limit the number of fish they eat, and avoid anything but home grown feeders at all cost.
