Hey all,

I have a 5 gallon set up;aquaclear mini, black gravel green (fake)plants, rele pretty; I know its small but it was given to me. I was going to get a 10 but i figured if i spent any more money (limited income-highschool student ;) ) on another aquarium i would save up and get a nice big one. Anywho, I was wondering what i could put in it. I was wondering if a single dwarf gourami would be okay: i would put another but a)that would be overstocking and b)i cant find any female gouramis. Would it be lonely? Could i put any other tiny fish in there to keep it company or would it be overstocked?

Thanks
Ps: i dont rele want shrimp, they freak me out

one dwarf gourami should be ok in a 5, but watch your water perams. I wouldnt put anything more in a 5gal, esp not another gourami. If you're gonna keep several they should be kept in a trio (1male, 2females) to help spread any agression the male might have. 5gal is rather small to keep anything more but another choice you have other than a gourami is a betta (i dont like them much, but thats just me). Try to avoid schooling fish like harlequins or neons, they're best kept in schools of at least 6-8 and a 5gal is kinda small. For algae you could try a snail of some sort, apple snails are fairly cheap and easy to get, MTS are also good snails
