I was just getting ready to clean my 150 gl planted tank when I notice the support glass that goes between the front and back is cracked all of the way though. There is a gap of about 3/4 of an inch between the two broken pieces. For now I have it braced with some clamps.

The question is, can I save it by fixing that broken piece of glass or am I out of luck? Will I have two buy a new tank? I know this is most likely a stupid question but will it survive as is. I just had to ask.

My wife is going to have a fit if I have to replace the tank she never really liked them.

Any help would be great.

Thanks All

Get some silicone and another piece of glass or whatever and sandwich it to the broken brace. It will be fine. The main thing is to clamp or brace the tank as you have done so the front and back walls aren't stressed, etc. You could also replace the broken piece totally, but either way will work... I have a couple of not very pretty 'emergency' repairs on the tanks that held up fine... The only trouble is they worked so well I never bothered with a more permanent solution :/

Thanks, I didn't even think of gluing another piece of glass on top of the broken one. That will be a nice cheap fix.

Now I can go back to thinking of other things to spend my xmas bonus on.

That's why we have these forums, for quick easy results. :D

Thanks
